The Design Process
The Design Process (In brief)
Step 1 – Initial Meeting: During the first meeting, we will go over your general desires and goals of your project. We will spend this time to not only get to know your project, but also each other. So much of Home design is being able to interpret individuals and their ideas. During this meeting we may get into some rough sketching and idea generation as well.
Step 2 – Sketching, Sketching, Sketching: This is where we start to put meat on the bones. At this point, you will have committed to using me as your designer. During our meetings, we will develop sketch floor plans, elevations, and site plans as required. As well as gather as much inspirational ideas you have for your project.
Step 3 – Finalizing the Design: Once we have semi-finished floor plan drawings and exteriors, I will move the project into CAD to facilitate the generation of construction documents (i.e. computer generated floor plans. Here is an example). At this point, we will have a very concrete picture of what you project will look like and how to build it.
Step 4 – Revisions and Completion: Any changes needed will be accommodated and done on the CAD drawings. Once you are satisfied with the total design, I will compile the CAD drawings needed to build your project, into a final plan set.
