Don’t Forget The Garage Doors

Where is the romance?  Garage doors were once celebrated parts of a home.  Now they serve only as a way to keep our cluttered garages out of sight from the public.  Use your garage doors as a way to add an extra bit of detail to your home.  It’s odd that so many homeowers and designers go with cheap and ugly garage doors, when they are in fact a huge part of the facade of a building.  You just don’t miss em’, so lets celebrate em’.  Use the garage doors to make a statement about your home and also enhance the exterior styling.

Sometimes all that is needed is some thought in color coordinating the garage door with the rest of the home. A simple stain will go a long way. Just be sure to apply the stain correctly and use a good one so that it does not become a maintenance issue.

No need to be over the top either. A white carriage style garage door will look great, especially if paired correctly to the building’s style. Pictured above is a very reasonably priced Wayne Dalton garage door. What a difference this might have made to the “Wasted Opportunity” seen up top.

  1. This is a great example of how a simple, easy change such as replacing your garage doors can severely impact the over all appearance of your homes exterior. They’re accent pieces to the whole masterpiece that is your home. Thank you for sharing!
